11) Review of a Smithsonian article , Apr/May 2023, on L.M. Montgomery
April 18, 2023, I began reading an article on the life of L.M. Montgomery, author of Anne of Green Gables and Emily of New Moon. The article says, "In the Anne novels, the emotional complexity of Montgomery’s art lies in the way that adult characters who are hardened in some way-the stern Marilla, Anne's adoptive mother, or the rigid widow Aunt Josephine Barry-become more compassionate human beings under Anne's influence, Montgomery's perceptive insights into such relation became her trademark." That's as far as I got because I only have time on the toilet. My suspicion is that this article is going to point out, already is in my mind, that her personal life helped bring the adults in her life up to snuff on charity because they are implying she helped make them more compassionate.
